The hotel is ideally located and less than 10 minutes walk away from the Temple Bar area down the buzzing O'Connell street. Our double room was a fair size and well priced. The staff was helpfull and friendly and I can recommend this hotel for an enjoyable stay in Dublin.

I HAVE STAYED NUMEROUS TIMES IN ACADEMY PLAZA HOTEL AND AM EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH CENTRAL LOCATION, STAFF FRIENDLINESS, REASONABLE COST,AVAILABILITY. WELL DONE TO ALL THERE!.

I'd recommend this hotel, particularly for its central location. Service and staff were good but: (1) I had no response to an email asking about where we could park. (2) I booked 2 rooms and requested the same floor but we were on the 2nd floor while our friends, who arrived later by air, were placed on the 6th. This worked out OK but would have been problematic if the trip had been with my elderly father. (3) The first night we ate at the hotel's excellent Asian restaurant, but on the 2nd night we asked at reception if they could recommend any nearby restaurants. We were closely questioned about whether we'd eaten in both of the Academy's restaurants before a nearby restaurant was somewhat grudgingly suggested. Unfortunately, it wasn't until packing to leave that we discovered a thick booklet on 'Dining out in Dublin'in a drawer. I feel reception staff should have known about this and directed us to it. Regarding parking: There is a very good multi-storey car park very close by which has a discount for the hotel's guests. It cost us about 25 Euros for our 2 day stay.

great location, nice rooms. not bad value for where it is. reception staff and restaurant staff pretty unfriendly though. Temple bar is only 10/15 min walk away. make sure and go drinking there. might be more expensive but worth it for atmosphere
